Providing lifelong homes for adults with developmental disabilities is a challenging task, but one we are committed to wholeheartedly.

Welcome, Friends!
At Special Needs Cobb, our conference room features the notable quote by Margaret Mead: “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; for, indeed, that’s all who ever have.”
In 1956, a dedicated group of founding parents established a lasting legacy, which continues thanks to the support from friends, neighbors, donors, volunteers, and community organizations. They envisioned better futures for their loved ones with special needs. As Cobb’s original special needs nonprofit, we serve families throughout the region who might otherwise be underserved by our healthcare and social services systems due to the lack of affordable, safe care for individuals with Developmental, Physical, and Intellectual Disabilities.
Consider receiving a call about a disabled 85-year-old blind orphan in need of a home, arriving with no clothes or any personal belongings. This scenario highlights the importance of having someone to care for those who cannot care for themselves. We recognize that even individuals with profound disabilities have the capacity for love and require it.
We are grateful to everyone who has contributed their time or resources to our mission over the years. If you are new to our organization, thank you for visiting our site and expressing interest in our community work. Providing lifelong homes for adults with developmental disabilities is a challenging task, but one we are committed to wholeheartedly. Even if you do not have a direct connection to anyone with special needs, we invite you to become part of our supportive family. The need remains significant.
Looking ahead, we will persist in advocating for increased Now/Comp Waivers for the thousands of families still on the waiting list for a group home for their loved ones, some of whom have been waiting 10 years or more. It is imperative that we persuade our state legislators to authorize these essential waivers required to secure group home residency.
Our organization serves as a lifeline for families seeking special needs resources. We hope that you will join us in imagining a brighter and more secure future for those most vulnerable.
Gratefully,
Debbie Day, CEO
